dark and silent forests for the

LIGHT OF CIVILIZATION,

and the

GLORIOUS ARTS OF PEACE.

This story of the strangely eventful life of one of the

bravest of their number, and sketch of one of the

MOST DISTINGUISHED OF PIONEERS,
